The Challenge
Bringing the Art of Bargaining to Online Shopping
In a physical store, a shopper can negotiate. Online, they either pay the listed price or leave, and many leave. D-Bargain wanted to change that with an AI that can bargain with every shopper in real time, the way a skilled salesperson would, without ever risking the merchant’s margins.
- Negotiating like a human, at machine speed: The bot had to understand shopper messages, respond naturally and make counter-offers instantly, in a real conversation.
- Protecting merchant margins: Every offer had to stay within the prices and limits the merchant approved, with no exceptions.
- Handling thousands of negotiations at once: The system needed to run many bargaining conversations at the same time, 24/7, with no delays and no human support.
- Turning bargains into sales: Negotiation only matters if it converts, so the bot had to know when to hold firm, when to concede and how to close the deal.
- Working across different stores: The bot had to plug into Shopify stores, WooCommerce stores and custom e-commerce platforms through a white-label API.
Our Approach
Built an AI Negotiator From the Ground Up
We designed and developed D-Bargain’s AI bargaining bot from scratch, an engine that negotiates with shoppers in real time and closes deals on the merchant’s behalf. Before writing any code, we studied how real negotiations work: how buyers open, how sellers counter and what makes a shopper say yes. We then built an AI that combines natural conversation with strict pricing rules, so every shopper feels they’ve won a deal and every merchant stays in full control of their margins. The bot is built to scale, handling large numbers of conversations at once without slowing down, and its strength helped D-Bargain earn a place in NVIDIA’s AI Startup Acceleration Program.
